John Torrance tells the doctor about the time he hurt his son’s arm in the book but Wendy tells the doctor in the filmĩ. A female children’s doctor checks on Danny after he collapses at the hotel in the film but in the book he’s male and the go to his office.Ĩ. In the film he only sees the twins and that famous flood of blood coming out the elevator.ħ. Danny has a vision and sees basically everything that will happen in the book from ‘REDRUM’ to his dad and a mallet, but not the Grady twins. Kubrick’s Danny is seven and likes Road Runner cartoons.Ħ. Danny in the book is a really clever five-year old who knows a lot of big words and loves Sesame Street. The season runs from May 15th to September 30th in the novel but Stanley made it run until October 30th so the first day the Torrances are at the hotel is Halloween.ĥ. Jack already has the job at The Overlook Hotel when he meets Mr Ullman in the book but he gets hired during the interview in the filmĤ. Wendy Torrance in the book is a beautiful blonde but in the film she’s played by non-blonde and unusual Shelley Duvallģ. In the film Jack Nicholson’s character is called Jack Torrance but in the book he’s called John Daniel Torrance.Ģ.
